You can do specific job research at the Boston Academic Association. You'll be able to unlock the full potential of your job.

Job Research

Start your job research in Boston by talking to NPC "Franklin" (Academic Association building, not far from the bank).

When you get the thesis research from Franklin, you can start your it any Mediator (Adventure Business or Maritime) in the world.

Researching

To make progress in your research, you need to have a job corresponding to your research theme.

Then do one of required actions to earn "pages". Works just like Oxford research.

Once you have completed all pages required report back to "Franklin" (NPC) or Mediator in the world.

Getting new Boston Thesis

The first thing you should do is get new jobs. Most jobs have specific thesis to research.

Tip: You don't need to change to a specific job each time you want to receive a new thesis.

Franklin remembers all jobs you have and he will give you new thesis to research when talk to him (Job research button).

Note: You must not be doing any thesis before talking to him, including Oxford research. If you haven't complete it you may just drop it, if you have finished you must report it to any scholar first.

The second thing is do job research. Just like Oxford, when you complete a research you get 1 submission. More submissions will unlock new building and more thesis:

Buildings

1 ★ is available since the start, talking to "Franklin".
2 ★ ★ will be available after your 12th submission.
3 ★ ★ ★ will be available after your 30th submission.
4 ★ ★ ★ ★ will be available after your 50th submission.

Note: Some thesis require more submission than what is required to open a new building. Example given: Blacksmith's Research 2 requires 55 submissions whereas 4 star building only requires 50.

Credits & Slot Number

Skill Slots

The number increase is based on the value of credits earned not by the number of submissions.

Credits

Credits obtained from research can be used interchangeably with credits obtained in Oxford College.

Grinding Boston Skills

My favorite spot is Cape Town, just outside port. Do some fishing and report back to one of the mediators in the city:

• Fishing thesis 1 to increase thesis submission number (And unlock new buildings).
• Fishing thesis 2 for credits (Increase the number of slots).

Note: You need to have a high level of fishing (10+) to be able to catch the big fish that live there (mako and great white shark). At r13 you will still have lots of "line dun snapped".

If you have the chef job and the cooking/storage skills you may use the "chicken to eggs to chicken" exploit to get great successes. Books: Traveller's food procuring skill and Livestock secrets- Poultry. Suggested place: Lisbon.

If you can afford POs and wanna do a lot of clicking you can pick one of those "buy category X thesis" (i.e. Art Dealer) but I do not recommend it to you as it gets boring fast. Do the fisher thesis instead.
