Arr, so ye wish to rise above the common rabble and earn a title from the Crown? Mark this well, matey. In this world, a Court Rank is your ticket to respect, privilege, and power. Ye start as a nameless deckhand, but through deeds of glory and gold, ye can become a Duke or an Admiral, with the world calling ye by name.
Why Bother With a Title?
It's not just for bragging in the tavern! A noble title unlocks treasures that even the King's coffers envy:
- Expand yer vault to hoard more plunder.
- Trade tax-free in ports under your nation's flag (Rank 25+).
- Wear the finest high-end gear and unlock grander quarters for your loot.
- Receive your nation's crest and have even the stuffiest port officials address ye with respect.
- Gain entry to the elite Royal Fleet and become a licensed agent for your country.
The Path to Nobility
There be five roads to earn your rank, and ye can mix and match as ye please:
- Investment: Line the right pockets with gold.
- Discovery: Be the first to chart new lands and report 'em.
- Sea Battle: Send enemy ships to the locker (NPCs only, and ye must land the final blow).
- Epic Sea Feud (ESF): Prove your mettle in these grand battles.
- Royal Fleet Service: Serve your crown with distinction.
Whichever path ye choose, ye'll also need a minimum Total Fame to even be summoned to the palace. The first few ranks come easy, but to become a Count or Duke, ye'll need fame in the hundreds of thousands.
A Captain's Advice
For a swift start, listen close. The easiest path for a new captain is Investment. A mere 100,000 ducats can buy yer first step up. Use a Request for Investment Book to make it easier.
If ye have an explorer's heart, sailing to discover new ports is a fine second choice. Just remember: ye must get the discovery card and report it to the proper official to claim your due!
