What is a Court Rank?
In the beginning of the game you are a peasant or commoner with no rights or privileges. But as you start getting accomplishments in the name of your crown /country you will receive royalty titles and privileges.

Calculating your Court rank
To calculate your final court rank just sum up all your individual ranks per category:For example, a character with r3 investment, r3 discovery, r4 sea battle, r1 Epic Sea Feud and r1 in royal fleet sums up to 12 ranks, which is equivalent to a 4th Knight (fame requirement still applies).
Remember: You need to go to your palace / governor when he summons you (At your home / capital port). That's when you effectively receive your promotion.
Important note: Please treat the point requirements below as a guide rather than the absolute truth. There are unknown hidden factors that may alter these. (Like being member of a smaller country).
How to get Court Ranks
Adventure's Route
You earn discovery points every time you report a first-time discovery. Sorry but you can't farm quests maps for court ranks. The second point is you need to REPORT discoveries. Just making them (getting cards) won't do.
The number of point earned are equivalent to the experience gained during the first discovery. Being on an adventure job does not give you more points, but it is still recommended you are.
Court ranks are given as follows:
Ranks | Report Points |
1 | 1000 |
2 | 3000 |
3 | 7000 |
4 | 25000 |
5 | 50000 |
6 | 100000 |
7 | 150000 |
9 | 200000 |
10 | 300000 |
11 | 400000 |
12 | 500000 |
13 | 600000 |
14 | 700000 |
Trader's Route
Just go to a city official and give him some money as investment. There is an item called Request for investment Book that helps a lot. Usually sold by players (10-50k each) or you can buy for 1k each at Florence (follow the link for more info) or during a specific day of the north american schedule.
Investment milestones are as follows:
Ranks | Total Investment |
1 | 100,000 Ducats (100k) |
2 | 1,000,000 Ducats (1m) |
3 | 10,000,000 Ducats (10m) |
4 | 50,000,000 Ducats (50m) |
5 | 100,000,000 Ducats (100m) |
6 | 500,000,000 Ducats (500m) |
7 | 1,000,000,000 Ducats (1b) |
8 | 2,000,000,000 Ducats (2b) |
9 | 3,000,000,000 Ducats (3b) |
10 | 4,000,000,000 Ducats (4b) |
11 | 5,000,000,000 Ducats (5b) |
12 | 6,000,000,000 Ducats (6b) |
13 | 7,000,000,000 Ducats (7b) |
14 | 8,000,000,000 Ducats (8b) |
15 | 9,000,000,000 Ducats (9b) |
16 | 10,000,000,000 Ducats (10b) |
It's worth noting that you do not need to invest in the same city / port. The game will sum up all the investments you made all around the world.
Maritimer's Route
First of all, yes, only SEA battles. Land battles do NOT count points for a new rank.Second to that, you need to sink ships. If you are in a fleet but did not give the last shot, you will not get points for that kill.
Third point: You need to sink NPCs with levels equal or bigger than yours.
Fourth point: PvP does not give you any points.
About the points
You can incapacitate a ship by any method (melee, mines or cannon shots).1 point is awarded for every victory.
Additional points are awarded based on ships incapacitated as follows:
- 2 Points if your total level is below the total level of the ship destroyed.
- 1 Point if your total level is equivalent and below two times of the total level of the ship destroyed.
- No points if your total level is two times higher than the total level of the ship destroyed.
Players Total Level is 0 to 51: 1+(2x4)=9 points
Players Total Level is 52 to 103: 1+(1x4)=5 points
Players Total Level is more than 104: 1+(0x4)=1 points
The following are estimated points needed for each rank:
Ranks | Sink Points |
1 | 100 |
2 | 1000 |
3 | 3000 |
4 | 5000 |
5 | 10000 |
ESF Route
You earn points for every ship defeated (NPC or players). Unlike in the maritimer's route above you DO earn points during ESF's PvP.
Additionally 1 extra point is given for defeating players or NPCs with total levels higher than yours.
Note: As of the day I write this post, there is no way to know how much points you have acumulated.

How to get easy court ranks (Guide)
Ok so enough with the lecturing. How do I start? What is the easiest path?Well the first and easiest option is Investment.
Strategy 1: Investment
You don't need to be a trader and there is no real requirement besides having the money (lol).Luckily the first court ranks are really really cheap.
So get a few Request for Investment Book (RIB) and 100m then go invest.
I recommend you sail to a port that needs investments to develop. It is sad to see so many people dumping millons of ducats in their capital city that does not need it.
Strategy 2: Port Discovery
The second best way to get court ranks is... sailing around and making port discoveries.Requirements
- Port Permits
- Money (To bribe officials in case of pirate ports)
- A World Map (To guide you)
If you are in hurry, Caribbean ports give great XP/points and might give you one or 2 court ranks just by themselves.
