Common Abbreviations List (& Acronyms)

Every game or business has its own jargon, slangs, acronyms or abbreviations. But perhaps no other game has more abbreviations than UWO.

See? I just used one. UWO = Uncharted Waters Online.

People are usually turned off by acronyms and abbreviations they do not know.

Don't worry if you are one. Nobody knows all... It's just too much!

Trade

  • WTB - Want to buy
  • WTS - Want to sell
  • WTT - Want to trade (e.g. my XYZ for your ZYX)
  • WTH - Want to hire (Usually ppl looking for shipbuilders or surgeons)
  • obo - or best offer
  • PC / pc - Price Check (Someone asking for a price estimate)
  • pm - private message (Use "Tell" command and type his/her nick)
  • wc - wrong chat
  • 1:X (UWC ducats conversion factor, e.g. 1:3 is 1 UWC per 3 million ducats)
Note: If you are not willing to negotiate you should always put your buying / selling price in your ad. That saves everybody's time.

General Chat

  • afk - away from keyboard. Means he couldn't reply, react at that moment.
  • atm - at the moment.
  • brb - be right back
  • cpy - company (Equivalent to a guild in most rpgs)
  • dc - disconnect or disconnected
  • dunno - do not know
  • e1 - everyone
  • ez - easy
  • f2p - free to play
  • gl - good luck
  • gg - good game. Usually used after a match or fight. May also be "ghost grind" depending on the context.
  • idk - I don't know
  • ign - in game name
  • imo - In my opinion
  • IR - Industrial Revolution
  • irl - in real life
  • lol - laughing out loud
  • noob or n00b - inexperienced player (Considered an insult). Use newbie instead.
  • Main - Main Character (Usually the favorite or most played). Alt - Alternative Character (Usually the one following)
  • MC - Merchant Chat
  • nerf - weaken or made weak. Usually for the purpose of balancing a game.
  • np - no problem
  • omg - oh my gosh / god!
  • op - overpowered
  • pls or plz - please
  • PK - Player Killing / Player Killer
  • ppl - people
  • PvP  - Player vs Player
  • PvE - Player versus environment
  • tbh - to be honest
  • Toon - Playable Character
  • ty - thank you
  • wb - welcome back
  • WC - World Chat
  • wtf - what the f***
  • ye - yourself
  • yt - Youtube
  • yw - you're welcome

Money

  • k - thousand (1,000Đ = 1k)
  • m - million (1,000,000Đ = 1m)
  • b - billion (1,000,000,000Đ = 1b)

Stats

  • CC - Cultural Contribution
  • lvl - level
  • v - vertical sails / h - horizontal sails
  • noto - notoriety
  • prof - Proficiency
  • r - rank
  • xp - experience
  • RC - Roman coins

Roles

  • BH - Bounty Hunters
  • CA - Community Advisor
  • Fili - Filibuster
  • GM - Game Master
  • NPC - Non-Player Character
  • SB - Shipbuilder

  • co-shop - Company Shop
  • DK - Doorkeeper (A usual meeting point in capital cities)
  • EA - East Asia (Depending on the context may be Emergency Acceleration, the ship skill)
  • EU - Europe
  • FSD - Fort San Domingo
  • MK - Market Keeper
  • NA - North America
  • SEA - Southeast Asia
  • SoW - Sea of Wonders
  • SY - Shipyard

Player Skills

  • SP - Swordplay
  • SM - Sword mastery

Items

Shipbuilding

  • Decor - Decoration
  • Dura - Durability
  • FS - Freestyle (shipbuilding)
  • GS - Great Success
  • Mod - One shipbuilding improvement. Improvements are sometimes called modding. 
  • Grade - Ship level obtained by fusion technique (Or grading). 
  • G1/g1 - Grade 1. G2/g2 - Grade 2 and so on...
  • Noct - Nocturnal. Usually referring to the panel that makes a ship black.
  • SSIP - Special Shipbuilding Improvement Permit
  • SU 123- Speed up 1 2 and 3 (Grade bonus)
  • Ticket - A ship that is not "opened". Easy to carry but do not know what skill it will get. Fresh - Just out of ticket, subject to ship carrying limits but you know which skill it comes with.
  • WR - Wave Resistance
