I recently came across captain Havok' video on UWO's issues where he makes suggestions on how to make the game better.
That kinda reminded me what I miss most on UWO and that is:
MODDING!
And no, I'm not talking about shipbuilding modding. I'm talking about GAME MODDING.
Why?
What's in for Koei and Papaya?
There are a things that games have in common:
- Companies do not have the manpower or the creative power to build the most fun events, scenarios and rules.
- The most successful games of all time were a mod of other existing games. Examples:
- Counter strike from Half Life
- DOTA from warcraft 3
As you can see, simple player mods can greatly increase the value of game.
How about the community?
Why would anyone bother to make mods for UWO?
Well, look at the loyal community. People like Havok, CPC and me are full of ideas.
Look how UWO is unique and why people keep coming back to it. They want fresh content and the unique experience that UWO can provide.
We don't have the resources to build an entirely new game from scratch but we can certainly mod UWO to create fun stories and events.
Not convinced? Let me give you the example of one my favorite games of all time: Civilization II:

I have cut this video to start on "Why was Civ II one of the best civilization game ever made":
Oh boy... I loved that dinosaur scenario.
Despite its old graphics, civ 2 was played for decades unlike the civilization titles that followed...
In fact, I bet there are people still playing it today!
If you like the idea...
The first thing is convince the devs that we want game modding. And Papaya and Koei will only consider this feature if it is popular.
