Avast, ye landlubber! So ye've set yer sights on the Adventurer's life, have ye? A fine choice for a soul that itches for more than counting coins or swabbing decks. Mark this well: in these waters, a captain is free to change his colors as often as the wind. A Mariner today can be an Explorer tomorrow, if ye know the trick of it.
The Key to a New Life
To pledge yerself to the Adventurer's Guild, ye need but one thing: a Job Card. Think of it as yer letter of marque from the Guild Master. There be three main ways to get yer hands on one:
- Proving yer mettle by completing the job's quest.
- Using a prized Letter of Appreciation from Seafarers.
- Having a generous mate simply hand one over to ye.
Once that card is in yer inventory, haul yer carcass to any Adventure Maritime Guild and parley with the Guild Master. He'll see ye right. But heed this: if ye lack the card, the old salt won't even give ye the time of day.
Quest or Letter? A Captain's Counsel
Many a green deckhand thinks the Letter is the swiftest path. I say it's a fool's gamble! The NPCs ye must find are scattered across the high seas and can be as elusive as mermaids. The letter itself can cost a king's ransom to a beginner.
For most, I say take the quest. If it's a simple matter and doesn't demand skills ye haven't got, it's the truer test of an Adventurer's spirit. To walk the path for beginners, seek out the quest "Adventurer Guild's Plight" in any major port. Succeed, and the Guild Card ye earn will unlock a whole host of starter jobs for ye to try yer hand at.
Why Bother, Ye Ask?
Why? For the freedom, ye scallywag! Once ye've used that Job Card, the knowledge is yers for good. Ye can switch to that job any time after, for a heavier fee in ducats, but never again will ye need to hunt down another card. It's an investment in yer own destiny upon these waves.
So, do ye have the salt for it? If ye hunger for the full chart—every last named NPC across Europe, every linked quest, and the deep secrets of the trade—then make way to the complete log below. I'll show ye how to seize yer future proper.
