How do I use a Clermont ship?
You have the skills and the requirements but can't sail it?
That's because you need to to do the steam quest prior to being able to use a steam ship.
Detailed step by step instruction on how to complete the clermont quest (or steam engineer quest)
Advantages of a steam ship
- You can increase the sailing capabilities of the ship by using coal fuel
- Your sailors have more resistance to fatigue
- When using coal fuel, you are protected from broad-side waves, high waves, and strong gusts
- While on the seas, you can use the steam whistle from the settings in your Shortcuts
Disadvantages of a steam ship
- Coal fuel (100k each) may be expensive and runs out fast, specially if your nation is not in industrial revolution.
When industrial revolution status return:
- Increased chance of fire occurring while on the seas, including during Sea Battle.
- Rumors say it may reduce up to 15% of your fleet's speed if you do not use coal fuel.
- Fuel(less) steam ships given to aides also reduce speed. Evidence:
- Fleet members and alts do not affect the convoy speed (if they are not leading it), even if they have an aide sailing a fuelless steam ship.
Fuel
This ship requires coal fuel to sail at full speed and unlock the full potential of Steam Ships.
While navigating on the seas your coal fuel will automatically be consumed.
While navigating on the seas your coal fuel will automatically be consumed.
While Fuel is available, the capabilities of the Steam Ship will increase.
Where do I buy coal fuel?
You buy it in the shopkeeper of any of these cities:
- Bilbao
- Viana do Castelo
- Cattaro
- Le Havre
- Rotterdam
- Portsmouth
- Boston
- Omaha
- Sacramento
- Tacoma
- San Francisco
What happens if I run out of fuel?
When you run out of fuel, the Steam Engine will cease to function and its capabilities will return to normal (Very slow speed).
