All About Private Farms

Did you know you can...

  • Claim an island for yourself?
  • Produce trade goods?
  • Have exclusive production recipes?

Farms

There are five possible islands that can be claimed as farmland:
  1. Ascension (16182,5044)
  2. Saint Lucia (13721,4240)
  3. Diego Garcia (3315,5004)
  4. Savaii (8520,5250)
  5. Unalaska (8695,2401)
You can see them marked in a world map:
To the best of my knowledge you can get to the first four island even without a port permit. But you will not reach unalaska without east bering sea.

Each island has unique features, facilities and trade goods. Some can’t be obtained on other farms or can only be obtained through farms.

Choosing your farm is a very important decision. You can pick a new farm somewhere else later but you will lose all you built up to that point in your old farm.

Note: You do not need to visit your farm to mantain it. Farms can be managed (and upgraded) from the bank.

Developing your land

Once you have a farm you can start developing it:

There are four types of land to build on: Farm, Mine, Fishery, and Ranch.
You can build multiple facilities on the land to determine the trade goods that are produced. In my case I built 5 farms and 4 mines.

Once a day you can develop the land of one type of land to increase the technology/productivity level:
In the picture above you see the "?" which means I can build a new facility (Fishery). To do that you have to click the "develop" button once a day until it finishes the facility. It will be completed when the development reaches 75.

The development can be done at your farm or from a bank. If done from a bank you will have a penalty in development points. It is also a bit more expensive.

When the facility is built you can do / click "maintenance" to improve productivity:

Note 1:Once the facility is built you will know the output. If you don't like just destroy it and build another one.

Note 2: You can change the product being produced (Click the "Change Produce" button). It requires that you have produced some of it for some time. Also it will take the option from the facility type. So if you don't like the option read the note 1 above.

Room for facilities

More facilities means more trade goods under production.

Note: Some islands have more room for farms while others have more room for mines.

Development level

Higher development means more productivity and may unlock certain production recipes.

Note: Some islands require more development points than others to build the same facilities.

The lower the number the easier it is to finish the facility.

Stocking items (Stock items menu)

Stocking items at your farm will increase the amount of development points that are given.

You can add this item to your farm in major cities including your capital.

A maximum of 3 items can be stocked at the farm. All three items can be the same type to maximize development.

Raising the productivity increases the amount of trade goods produced. But decreases if no item is stocked that gives a bonus to that type of land (Slowly decreases productivity over time):
Cheap +1 items for farms are found in Faro. +2 items can produced in Gijon (Needs suede):
Note: Tools will lose durability over time. You should watch the durability and replace tools that are close to breaking.

Trade goods

In order to produce trade goods you will need to develop your land first.

After that your farm will automatically produce trade goods once a day (Real world day).

Groups of trade goods (Facilities) with different production lists will be unlocked as the technology level increases.

Each group has a unique set of trade goods. They can be produced up to a number of cycles (real world days). After that, the slot goes "red" and it will not produce until you switch it to something else.

The trade goods produced can be withdrawn at the island or through a bank in a Capital city for a fee.

You can have up to 15 different trade goods stored and a quantity of 999 (for each type). Your production will stop if you have more than 999:
For the complete output list check the topic below. But the most important information you can get is what is really unique to each farm:
These trade goods may be obtained by other means but not by other farms, so keep that in mind.

Production and recipes

Production and recipes are only available when you are at your farm (Not at a capital city). Craftsmen in the farm have unique recipes that are only found on the farm.

Each NPC has a certain set of recipes according to a production skill: Sewing, cooking, crafting etc...

You can refill your vigor for free in your farm in the port official, so don't worry about that.
