Guide to Unlock Port Permits

About Port Permits

Port Permits are a way found by game developers to guide newbies through the game. They are unlocked by your fame level (First set of permits), by IQs (Imperial Quests) or charting (By Mercator in Amsterdam).

How to get Port Permits

Port Permits are given to you automatically by the Guard at the entrance to the Palace (or ruler) in your nation's capital city once you meet the requirements below.

Note: European Port Permit's requirements were reduced since the order of the prince update. Check this tip to get european permits and go to Sagres.

Port Permits unlocked by fame

The order depends on your nationality:

• Northern Europe
• North Atlantic Ocean
• West Mediterranean
• East Mediterranean
• West Africa
• South Atlantic Ocean
• East Africa
• Red Sea
• Indian Ocean
• Caribbean

Permits unlocked by Imperial Quests

You have to do imperial quests in this order:

1. East Coast of Latin America
2. Southeast Asia
3. Oceania
4. West Coast of Latin America
5. Panama Canal
6. Suez Canal
7. East Asia

Permit unlocked by Charting

You have to do charting in this order:

1. NorthEast Sea Passage
2. Greenland
3. West Coast of North America
4. NorthWest Sea Passage

Unlocking Special Cities

• St. Petersburg
• San Francisco

Unlocking Pirate Ports

• Unlock Nassau with 1m bribe (if you have no notoriety)
• Unlock Jolo with 1m bribe (if you have no notoriety)
• Port Royale

Unlocking Special Areas

• Lima Dungeon
• Sea of Wonders
• Atlantis (Only available when the server says so)
