Transmutation Alchemy

What is Transmutation Alchemy?

Transmutation Alchemy can improve an item's quality or transform an item to another item (hopefully better).

How does it work?

• Step 1: Select a base item
• Step 2: Select a transmutation type
• Step 3: Select a Secret Technique (optional)
• Step 4: Perform transmutation

Note 1: The base item will not disappear when transmutaion fail. It will disappear (and be replaced) when transmutation succeeds.
Note 2: Any improved values or any weapon forte points the item has before transformation won't be carried over.
Note 3: There is a chance you will lose material items (not base material) if transmutation fails.

Where do I do Transmutation Alchemy?

You can do it in your quarters.

Requirements

You need a specific kind of furniture (Transmutation Alchemy equipment). Normal experiment furniture does not work.

You need to unlock the Transmutation Alchemy quest chain

How do I unlock Transmutation Alchemy?

You need to follow a specific quest chain.

Quest 1: Legend of the labyrinthos in Venice

Step by step

• Talk to the scholar in athens
• Read 3 times the theology books
• Talk to the barkeeper in Athens
• Go to Candia and talk to the Archaeology student (near to the bank)
• Talk to the scholar in Candia (Near the church)
• Talk to the craftsman in Syracuse
• Return to Candia. Go to West Candia (gatekeeper) and then to inland Crete.
• Find the Knossos Palace.
• Report quest at Venice or at your favourite barmaid (or bardude).

Quest 2: Land Charting in Oxford

Requirements 

• Charted North Sea
• Completed the quest above

Note: East Asia port permit or Northeast passage is not necessary. I tested myself. 

You should receive a note that you can now land chart. Example below:

Step by step

• Go to Oxford (Carriage from London)
• Talk to the professor to start Land region investigation (land chart button)
• Go to Candia and chart the West Candia land region. Later chart Inland Crete.
• Go to Oxford (Carriage from London)
• Talk to the professor (land chart button)

Quest 3: Land of the Legendary King in Stockholm Adventurer's Guild

• Talk to Adventurer GM in London
• Talk to the guild clerk (also in the Adventurer's Guild)
• Talk to the professor in Oxford
• Go to Seville Tavern and speak to to the "adventure-style Man" NPC
• Go to candia and talk to Tradescant. He is on the way from the port official to the bank.
• Go to West Candia and talk to the Tradescant (He is a few steps straight from the gate)
• After talking to him he will take you to the the ruins interior (Automatically)
• Talk to Alvero
• Leave the ruins and go to the same spot you found Trandscant in west Candia. Use observe skill and later the search skill to complete the quest.
• Report quest at Stockholm or at your favourite barmaid (or bardude).

Quest 4: Egypt and Atlantis in London Adventurer's Guild

• Talk to Adventurer GM in London
• Go to "Shore Opposite Cairo". As the name says it is a landing spot near Cairo.
• Talk to Tradescant which is just a few steps ahead of the entrance.
• He will take you to ruins interior. Talk to Tradescant again.
• Talk to Tradescant again.
• Double click on the sarcophagus to trigger quest related dialog
• Go to London. 
• When you arrive in London, you will be greeted with a message to go to London's adventure Guild
• Talk to the Adventure GM (London)
• Go to Oxford (Carriage from London) and talk to the professor.
• Report quest at the mediator in London.

Quest 5: Not really a quest but a final touch :)

Go to your nation's capital and you will be invited to fight the ghost fleet / Ganador (Optional - not needed to the transmutation alchemy quest chain.

Leave the docks and go back to see another dialog. You will receive a letter inviting you to see Paracelsus in Venice.

How to make Transmutation Alchemy equipment

Go to Venice and talk to paracelsus (Production button)

Basic equipment recipe:

• 50x Rare Books
• 40x Seal Sorcery
• 1x Processed Lumber 

Requires alchemy R1 and handicrafts R5 (Handicrafts may be leeched from a fleet member)

Complex Alchemy equipment recipe:

• 1x Basic Alchemy test kiln
• 1x Transmutation Alchemy equipment
• 1x Basic Lab Bench

Requires alchemy R12 and handicrafts R12 (Handicrafts may be leeched from a fleet member)

Once you have completed the quest chain and have the Transmutation Alchemy equipment in your quarters you can start burning money, erh, I mean, doing Transmutation Alchemy!

Useful Items

Book of Uroboros

Ensures 100% success if used during transmutation alchemy. Check here.

Please note that success rate starts at 25% and may go up to 50% without this book or server events.

Book of the Wingless Dragon

Works like insurance. If transmutation fails you will not lose materials. Check here. 

Please note your base item is never lost.

Book of the Unicorn

Gives a bonus if you are improving an item. Check here.

E.g. you are upgrading a +4 -0 plate. Normally you will get +5 -0 after a successful transmutation, but if you throw in an unicorn book you will get +6 -0 plate (straight from +4 -0).

EX Equipment Effect

EX equipment traditionally have a nice passive bonus that can be shared with (close) fleet members:

Note 1: It seems to work differently than the trade skill sharing by fleeting. You REALLY need to be next to the user with the Ex item to get the bonus (Being in the same city is no longer in enough).

Note 2: Not all EX effect is shareable.

Note 3: When you have more than one equipment, with the same effect, only the one with the highest rank will apply.

In another words, EX effect does NOT stack.

• Some transmutation recipes require high rank production skills. Those cannot be leeched.
• Recipes require you to have all the ingredients with you, otherwise it will be grayed-out and not selectable.
