The base of your arsenal grows with your total level across all pursuits. From a humble beginning, ye earn slots quickly, then the pace slows like a ship in a dead calm. If ye were to master every discipline to its peak, the theoretical bounty from leveling alone is 53 slots.
Boosting Your Bounty
Level is but the foundation. A true master of the seas seeks every advantage:
- Port Permits & Aides: Securing permits for distant coasts allows ye to hire aides. Five loyal aides can grant ye up to +5 slots.
- St. Petersburg's Scholar: A single, permanent slot awaits those who find the right learned man in that frozen port.
- Skill Training: A premium consumable can grant a temporary boon of up to 3 extra slots.
- Skill Notes: With the right permit, ye can wrest 5 more temporary slots from your studies.
- Unlocking Battle Prowess: Pushing your combat level to its zenith rewards ye with one additional slot.
The True Maximum & The Catch
Now, heed the catch! The sea has its rules. Adding all these bonuses together paints a grand picture of 69 slots, but I've sailed these waters long enough to know of a hidden cap. It seems the gifts from your level and your combined aides are bound by a limit of their own.
The practical maximum a captain can hold today is closer to 61 skill slots. A mighty arsenal indeed, but remember—there are over 129 skills to be learned in this world! For the skills ye cannot always carry, a fine Skill Bookshelf can store up to 5 of them for later use.

At level 90/90/90 you actually get 53 skills? some friends say yes, other people say no.. but I haven't found any evidence either way...
ReplyDeleteGood point Nesco. I reviewed a few toons and it turns out the math doesn't work with the highest levels. There is a cap.
DeleteI reviewed the post with the findings but I could use the info of a toon with total levels between 190 and 220 to close the evidence gap, if anyone could share (Total levels / number of aides / St petersburg? / + any extra skill slots).
Coming from my company leader who shared info with me a few weeks ago when I was planning out the skills for my fleet.
DeleteThe breakdown would be; 45 from levels, 5 from aides, 1 from St. Petersburg, 1 from bestowal, 3 permanent from cash shop, 5 temporary from cash shop, for a total of 60.
He claimed the default cap to be 52, reaching 60 only with cash shop items. A company member confirmed that his total was 55 as he was not using the temporary boost but did purchase the permanent ones. I trust both of them but I can't prove it, so do with that info as you wish.
